| DESCRIPTION | This course emphasises the development of academic literacy skills, in addition to developing students’ language proficiency. Students will learn how to find and evaluate sources for academic tasks and will further develop their abilities to be critical in reading and writing, to synthesise ideas and to develop coherent arguments. Collaboration and leadership skills will also be emphasised to further develop skills and habits for autonomous lifelong learning. |

Dr. Zhang will soon join the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor in the Pillar of Language Education. She holds a PhD in Composition and Applied Linguistics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her research specializes in second language writing, academic writing, AI-assisted writing support, and writing center praxis. Her work has been published in leading international journals, including the Journal of Second Language Writing, the Journal of English for Academic Purposes, and Linguistics and Education. |
